Information
herbaceous, tall; stem, petioles and peduncles softly pubescent and sprinkled with stellate hairs; leaves on long petioles, oblong-ovate, cordate at base, 3–5-lobulate, the lateral lobes short and obtuse, the middle one ovate and acute, all crenato-dentate, with velvetty and stellate pubescence; peduncles axillary, as long as the petioles, jointed above the middle; invol. of 10–12 minute filiform leaflets, very much shorter than the semi-quinquefid, stellato-pubescent calyx; capsules acuminate, hispid; seeds glabrous. Two or 3 feet high, with the foliage of an Abutilon. It is nearly related to H. physaloides, but differs in the short and obtuse leaf-lobes, the less setose pubescence, shorter invol. leaflets and less shaggy calyces and capsules.
Distribution
SOUTH AFRICA Near the Vaal River, and at Macallisberg, Burke & Zeyher! (Herb. Hook. Sond.)
Notes
