Information
A mat-forming annual or perennial. Culms 10–30 cm. high, erect or ascending from a creeping base and rooting at the lower nodes. Leaf-blades 1–3 cm. long, 2–5 mm. wide, rather stiff. Inflorescence erect, 2–8 cm. long; spikes spreading or finally deflexed, up to 15, the lower 5–12 mm. long, the flattened rhachis ciliate on the margins and tapering to a blunt naked tip. Spikelets 1.7–2.3 mm. long, gaping; glumes lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 1–1.8 mm. long, 3–7-nerved; lower lemma ovate, 1.5–2.3 mm. long, 5–7-nerved, minutely hairy at the base and usually on the margins; upper lemma broadly ovate, 0.8–1 mm. long, densely and minutely pubescent. DISTR. U4; T1 westwards to Sierra Leone, and southwards to Zambia and Angola
Altitude range
1120–1200 m.
