Information
Plants 20–40 cm tall; bases often sheathed in old leaf fibres.Basal leaves 5–10, produced after flowering, frequently overtopping the spike, up to 30 cm long and less than 2 mm wide, semi-rigid and subsclerophyllous.Cauline leaves few, completely sheathing, 1.5–2.5 cm long, acuminate, larger towards the base of the stem.Inflorescence lax, rarely subsecund, 2–14-flowered.Bracts rarely as long as the flowers, ovate, acuminate, dry.Flowers varying from pale sky-blue to deep purple-blue, lip frequently a darker blue than the sepals.Dorsal sepal galeate; galea erect, (8)10–20 mm tall, 6–12 mm wide and 5–10 mm deep, ovate, acute.Spur horizontal from the base of the galea, often somewhat ascending, 4–6 mm long, cylindric.Lateral sepals patent, (8)10–18 mm long, oblong to rarely lanceolate, acute to rounded.Petals with a basal, oblong to ovate anticous lobe 1–2.5 mm in wide; petal limb 8–13 mm long, linear, the apex deeply bifid, lacerate or acute.Lip horizontal, at least at base, 10–25 mm long, broadly to narrowly ovate, more or less deeply dissected.Anther horizontal, 2–5 mm long; viscidia separate, ovate.Rostellum erect, equally 3-lobed, 2–3 mm tall.Stigma horizontal, 1 mm tall.Ovary straight or curved, 1–1.5 cm long.
