plant 3/4–1 1/2 ft. high; stem slender; leaves radical, 4–7, suberect with recurved apex, linear-filiform, acute, rigid, 1/2–1 ft. long, shrivelled at flowering time; scapes 3/4–1 3/4 ft. high, with several narrow acuminate sheaths; spikes 4–6 in. long, lax, 8–12-flowered; bracts lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 4–8 lin. long; pedicels 6–9 lin. long; flowers rather large, blue; dorsal sepal galeate, broadly ovate, acute or apiculate, 6–7 lin. long; spur broadly conical below, upper part linear or clavate-linear, 3 1/2–4 lin. long; lateral sepals elliptic-oblong, apiculate, 5–6 lin. long; petals falcately bent, about 3 lin. long, dilated at the base in front into a rounded auricle, apex dilated and shortly and unequally 2-lobed; lip broadly elliptic or suborbicular, 4–5 lin. long, deeply lacerate, segments often dilated above; column broad, 2 1/4 lin. long; anther reflexed, connective narrow; rostellum 3-fid, side lobes somewhat 2-lobed; stigma pulvinate. null
