Information
Erect branching perennial herb or shrublet, c. 1 m. tall; young branches tomentose, later glabrescent. Leaf-lamina up to 4·2 × 1·8 cm., narrowly oblong to narrowly oblong-obovate, apex obtuse, margins entire or coarsely serrate especially towards the apex, base broadly cuneate, thinly stellate-pubescent above, densely so beneath; petiole up to 8 mm. long, densely pubescent; stipules c. 2 mm. long, narrowly deltoid, stellate-pubescent. Flowers borne singly in the upper axils; peduncle slender, up to 1·7 cm. long, densely stellate-pubescent; pedicel similar, up to 6 mm. long; bracts c. 0·5 mm. long, deltoid, stellate-pubescent. Calyx c. 7 × 6 mm., campanulate, densely stellate-pubescent; lobes c. 5 mm. long, narrowly triangular-acuminate. Petals pink, c. 2·5 × 1·5 mm., obovate-cuneate, apex truncate, crenate, margins inrolled in the lower half and subauriculate at the apex of the inrolled portion. Stamens with obovate filaments c. 3·5 mm. long, pubescent on the shoulders; anthers c. 6 mm. long, pubescent. Ovary oblong-ovoid, truncate above, stellate-tomentose; styles c. 3·5 mm. long, puberulous near the base. Capsule c. 7 × 7 mm., oblong-ovoid, apex truncate with 5 short blunt processes, stellate-tomentose. Seeds dark-brown, c. 1·5 × 1 mm., subreniform, minutely granulate and wrinkled.

Sandy soils in coastal areas.

Apparently endemic in southern Mozambique.
