HERMANNIA micropetala Harv. [family STERCULIACEAE]
Information
suffruticose, erect, stellato-pubescent; leaves on short petioles, the lower oblong or obovate, toothed, the upper smaller, more lanceolate, entire, all stellato-pubescent, specially on the lower side; stipules minute, subulate; flower-stalks axillary, one-flowered, longer than the leaf, minutely bracteolate beyond the middle; calyx densely tomentose and stellulate, deeply 5-parted, the lobes subulate; petals shorter than the filaments, cucullate and truncate; fil. obovate, much shorter than the connivent and exserted anthers; ovary oblong, stellato-pubescent. Nearly related to H. boraginiflora, but not glandular; and differing in calyx, petals and ovary. Also near the following, but with a different habit, smaller, less uniform and not canescent leaves; a more hairy calyx and shorter and differently shaped petals.

Though not found within the geographical limits of our Flora, I am unwilling to omit a species so nearly allied to others of this section.
