fruticose, the branches minutely scurfy; leaves sub-sessile, cuneate or obcordate, entire or 2–3-toothed, canescent, and stellato-squamulose on both sides; stipules leaf-like, linear-oblong, obtuse, nearly as long as the leaves; peduncles from the axils of the upper leaves, 1–2-flowered; calyx 5- angled, deeply 5- cleft, squamulose, the lobes ovate, sub-acute; petals not much longer than the calyx, the ciliate claw shorter than the limb; fil. oval-oblong, longer than the sub-acute anthers. Very like H. trifoliata in foliage, but with pubescence of a different structure. Here the surface is clothed with minute, close-pressed, flat scales, stellulate at the margin.
