Information
herbaceous, velvetty pubescent; pods linear, one-nerved, pendulous, opaque, tipped with a very short style; leaves pinnati-partite, somewhat fleshy, the lobes 2–4 pair, subremote, semiterete, furrowed above; stamens toothless. 6–12 inches high or more. Leaves 2–3 inches long, their rachis linear, channelled, acute. Racemes elongating. Pedicels glabrous, 5–6 lines long. Fl. small, purple, or in var β. white; in var. γ. yellowish. Pods 15–20 lines long, 1 1/2–2 lines wide, valves marked with a raised, medial line. Seeds narrow margined.

SOUTH AFRICA In sandy fields and hillsides. Roggeveld Karroo, near Tuch river, Burchell. Oliphant's river, E. & Z. Hassagaiskloof, and R. Zonderende, Zeyher 1901 ex parte. Zilverfontein (3165) and Mieren Kasteel, Drege. Aug.-Sep. (Herb. Willd., E. Mey., Sond.; β. in Herb. T.C.D.)
