Information
Woody herb or shrublet 0.1–1.4 m high; branches ± virgate, closely leafy, thinly grey-woolly but glabrescent when older; branches with marcescent leaves or leaf scars on the older parts. Leaves silvery-grey, sessile, linear to lanceolate, 1–3.5 cm long, 0.1–1 cm wide, base half-clasping, margins revolute, apex subacute or obtuse and mucronate, grey-white tomentose on both surfaces or less so above. Capitula 4–6 mm long, heterogamous, in dense globose clusters which are solitary or united in terminal (globose) corymbs, 1.5–5 cm in diameter; capitula subsessile; phyllaries bright yellow, glossy, 4–5-seriate, the inner distally radiating, ovate to oblong, 1.5–4.5 mm long, acute; receptacle honeycombed. Florets yellow, 40–55(–105); outer 5–14, tube narrowly infundibuliform, 2.1–2.8 mm long, lobes 0.1–0.3 mm long, style 2.2–3 mm long; inner 36–43(–80), tube infundibuliform, 2.4–3 mm long, lobes 0.3–0.4 mm long, glandular, anthers 1.5–1.6 mm long, style ± 3.6 mm long. Achenes 0.7–1 mm long, papillose or glandular (F.S.A. says with duplex hairs); pappus white, 2.5–3.5 mm long, caducous in bunches.
