Information
Shrublet or prostrate herb, often cushion-forming, much branched, 0.3–1 m high; stems hidden by overlapping leaf-bases, later glabrous with the remains of leaf-bases. Leaves grey-green, sessile, linear, 0.5–2 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, base sheathing for ± 5 mm, margins revolute, apex a thick glabrous mucro, tomentose on both surfaces but very densely so beneath. Capitula 14–22 mm long, homogamous, terminal in few-headed cymes; capitula ± sessile; phyllaries creamy white with a pink tinge at the very base, lanceolate, 4–14 mm long, acute, glabrous except for the very base which has few hairs to a patch of pubescence; receptacle fimbriae to 1.5 mm long. Florets yellow to pale orange, ?all hermaphrodite; tube cylindric, 2.8–4.2 mm long, lobes 0.4–0.5 mm long, anthers 1.5–1.6 mm long, style 3.5–5.5 mm long. Achenes cylindric, 0.6–0.9 mm long, glabrous; pappus white, 3.5–5.5 mm long, subplumose distally, falling as a unit.
