4–5 ft. high. Stipules 1/4– 3/8 in. long, at length reflexed, ciliate with a few long hairs. Leaves elliptical or obovate, acuminate at both ends, shortly petiolate, with scattered hairs on both surfaces and on the margin; 3–6 by 1–2 in. Flowers 1/6 in. long, sessile on the secund spicate branches of dichotomous axillary inflorescences, which attain to about half the length of the leaves. Fruit 1/10– 1/8 in. long.
