Notes
Afmadobeye, dankup, gosomadowbeye, mirrow (Som.). The vernacular name Gosomadowbeye (of goso = molar teeth, madow = black) refers to the fact observed by many collectors that the plant stains lips and teeth black when chewed or eaten. Many collections have previously been misidentified as H. bottae Jaub. & Spach (Salsola b. (Jaub. & Spach) Boiss.), an Arabian species with non-glaucous, often ± recurved stems and spreading or recurved leaves.
