Notes
Distinguishable from G. inaequilatera, which occurs across the border in Mozambique, by its generally much larger leaves and coarse ferruginous pubescence on the young branches, petioles and inflorescences.A single specimen from Mpwapwa District (1–2 km NE of Gulwe, 21 Apr. 1988, B. & T. Pócs 88062/F) has fruit the size of G. goetzeana and a similar leaf-shape, but the leaves are smaller and the whole plant is less densely hairy. It was found in a much drier habitat ( Commiphora woodland) than G. goetzeana is normally found, which may explain some of the morphological differences.
