Names
GOSSYPIUM hirsutumL. [family MALVACEAE], (1763).
Information
Shrub up to 3 m tall. Leaves entire to shallowly 3–5-lobed, the middle lobe about as long as wide, usually broadest at the base. Calyx-tube c. 6 mm long, usually with distinct teeth. Corolla usually shorter than epicalyx. Seeds with fuzz all over, easily separated from the lint.
Range
Reported as cultivated in N1 and/or N2 in Cuf. Enum.: 574 (1959), but no specimens seen originally from America, now widely cultivated in all tropics and subtropics.
