Names
GLADIOLUS pauciflorus Baker [family IRIDACEAE], in Trans. Linn. Soc. ser. 2, Bot. ii. 350. —Handb. Irid. 206.
Information
Corm medium-sized. Produced leaves 3–4, suprabasal, moderately firm, linear, glabrous, the lower 1 ft. long, 1/3 in. broad. Stem moderately stout, terete, 2–3 ft. long, bearing 1–2 reduced leaves. Spike lax, few-flowered, not secund, 6–8 in. long; spathe-valves lanceolate, green, the lower outer 1 1/2 in. long. Perianth pale yellow, 3 in. long; tube narrowly funnel-shaped, curved, 18–21 lin. long; segments oblong, subacute, 1 1/2 in. long, the upper 3 1/4 in. broad, not cucullate, the lower narrower. Stamens nearly as long as the upper segments; anthers linear, 1/3 in. long.
