Information
corm not seen; stem 2–3 ft. long; produced leaves ensiform, more rigid in texture than in the other Cardinales, 1 1/2 ft. long, 1/2– 3/4 in. broad; flowers 6–10 in a lax distichous spike, all suberect; spathe-valves green, lanceolate, lower 1 1/2–2 in. long; perianth bright scarlet; tube straight, 2 in. long, broadly funnel-shaped in the upper third or quarter; segments oblong, acute, subequal, 1 1/2 in. long, 1/2 in. broad; stamens reaching halfway up the limb. null

Notes
Differs from the other Cardinales by the segments being subequal and shorter than the tube.
