Information
Tree 5–15 m high; branches pale to dark brown; branchlets glabrous. Leaves petiolate; blade elliptic or narrowly elliptic, 9–27 cm long, 2.5–10.5 cm wide, apiculate to obtuse at the apex, cuneate at the base, often with scattered black dots beneath, with 7–15 pairs of rather straight secondary veins; petiole 5–16 mm long. Inflorescence 10–20 cm long, few- to many-flowered, rather congested, glabrous in all parts; peduncle robust, 4–7 cm long; pedicels 5–24 mm long. Flowers opening during the night; sepals ovate, 4–7 mm long, 3–4 mm wide, rounded, ciliate; corolla white, fleshy, forming a small depressed globose or ovoid head in mature bud, with a blunt or rounded apex; tube almost cylindrical, 45–100 mm long, twisted; lobes spreading, narrowly oblong, more or less falcate, 20–55 mm long, 5–10 mm wide, acute or obtuse, auriculate at the left side of the base; stamens with apex 29–83 mm below mouth of corolla tube, inserted 1.5–5 mm from the base; pistil 5.5–5.8 mm long, glabrous; style very short, 0.7–2.5 mm long; ovary ovoid or subglobose; ovules 100–130 in each carpel. Fruit mericarps subglobose and 50 mm long, 45 mm in diameter or pod-like and 90 mm long, 15 mm wide, acuminate and recurved; pericarp about 4–10 mm thick; seeds dark brown, obliquely ovoid, 9–11 mm long, longitidinally grooved, dull, densely papillose.
