Information
Herb or subshrub, up to c. 0.6 m tall; young stems with ± appressed tubercle-based hairs. Leaf-blades elliptic to ovate, 2–10.5 x 0.8–6.5 cm, cuneate at the base, ± acute at the apex, ± appressed hairy; petiole 6–35 mm long. Flowers in several-flowered cymes; pedicels c. 17 mm long, ± appressed hairy. Calyx-lobes narrowly ovate, 8–13 x 4–4.5 mm, enlarged to 18–23 x 11–16 mm in fruit, joined at the base, acuminate at the apex, ± appressed hairy. Corolla white to pale lilac or pale blue with greenish to brownish or brownish red centre; tube c. 10 mm long; limb with c. 6 mm long lobes. Anthers not in distinctly exserted cone, densely hairy, with twisted appendages. Style c. 14 mm long. Nutlets ovate, cup-shaped with raised toothed inrolled margins, 5–7 mm long, inside with retrorsely pubescent short spines or sometimes smooth.
