Information
glabrous or more or less pubescent; stem commonly 12–20 in. long; umbel compound, though reduced sometimes to a few spikelets; glumes ovate, glabrous, concave, without distinct keel; style 2-fid; nut with 5–10 longitudinal ribs on each face; otherwise as F. dichotoma .The most abundant and widely-distributed of sedges, having (when most narrowly diagnosed) 140 names. The Cape examples are mostly tall, with broader leaves than in F. dichotoma; F. dregeana, Kunth, is 3–4 in. only, but has much stouter, rounder spikelets than F. dichotoma. null
