Information
Tree or shrub. Leafy twigs glabrous or sparsely puberulous. Leaf lamina oblong to elliptic or obovate, sometimes broadly so or obtriangular; apex acuminate to rounded to emarginate; margin flat, entire, midrib usually terminating near the leaf apex, lateral veins 6–13 pairs; stipules glabrous or sparsely minutely puberulous. Calyptrate bud cover enclosing the young figs, often conspicuous, up to 1 cm. long. Figs 0.8–1.5 cm. in diam. when dry; basal bracts caducous.
Habitat
Evergreen, riverine and coastal forest, Brachystegia/Uapaca and miombo woodland and submontane grassland, often in rocky places
