Information
Shrub or much branched small tree up to c. 5 m tall with erect branches; young stems with purplish brown bark; latex milky white. Leaves alternate; stipules free, lateral, puberulous to pubescent, caducous; petiole up to 4.5 cm long, pubescent; blade ovate in outline, variously lobed, 3–7.5 x 2.5–9.5 cm, base truncate or cordate, margin serrate, apex and apex of lobes acuminate, mostly scabrid above, scabrid to densely pubescent below, with 3–5 veins from the base and 5–7 pairs of lateral veins on each side of midrib in middle lobe. Figs axillary, 1–2 together, on peduncles up to 1.5 cm long; basal bracts 3, c. 1 mm long, ovate, puberulous. Fig ± stipitate, globose to pyriform, up to 2 x 1.5 cm, pubescent, pinkish purple when mature; ostiole ± protruding, with clearly visible bracts.
