Information
Leafy twigs usually minutely puberulous. Leaf lamina subovate to oblong or lanceolate, sometimes ovate or elliptic, 2–17 x 1–5.5 cm.; apex acute to ± acuminate (rounded); base rounded to cordate or obtuse (cuneate); petiole 0.5–4(6.5) cm. long; stipules 0.5–1.5 cm. long, glabrous or ciliolate. Figs on peduncles up to 3 mm. long, sometimes subsessile.

Woodland, often amongst rocks and on rocky outcrops, ironstone, limestone, sandstone and granite
Range
Subsp. lecardii (Warb.) C.C. Berg occurs in W. Africa from Senegal through N. Cameroons to the Central African Republic.

Notes
It differs from subsp. cordata in having figs mostly pedunculate and twigs often glabrous, and from subsp. salicifolia in having broader leaves and petioles which usually dry dark brown to blackish.
