Names

Information
Tree up to 35 m. tall, often with pillar-roots, hemi-epiphytic, secondarily terrestrial. Leafy twigs 1.5–3 mm. thick, minutely puberulous, mostly dark-brown to blackish when dry, periderm not flaking off. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina oblong to elliptic or subovate, (4)6–12(16) x (2.5)3–5.5(7.5) cm., subcoriaceous; apex subacuminate; base cordate to emarginate or truncate rarely rounded or obtuse; margin entire; superior surface glabrous, usually minutely puberulous on the midrib, inferior surface minutely puberulous on the main veins, sometimes glabrous; lateral veins (6)8–12 pairs, tertiary venation reticulate; petiole (1.5)2–4(6) cm. long, 1.5–2 mm. thick; stipules 3–5 mm. long, up to 4 cm. long on new flush, with appressed (on long stipules ± patent) white hairs, caducous. Figs up to 3 together on spurs up to 2 cm. long on the older wood, down to the main branches; bud scales of the spurs glabrous or sparsely puberulous; peduncle (10)15–20(40) mm. long, c. 1.5 mm. thick; basal bracts c. 2.5(3) mm. long, caducous. Receptacle subglobose, 2.5–4 cm. in diam. when fresh, 1.5–3 cm. in diam. when dry, minutely puberulous, greenish to pale-yellow with brown spots at maturity; wall c. 1 mm. thick when dry.
