Information
Scandent perennial to 4 m. Tuber large. Stems when young herbaceous, finely pubescent, when older softly ligneous, with greyish lenticellate papyraceous bark. Leaf-lamina 7·5–8 × 9–10·5 cm., broadly ovate in outline, cordate, finely puberluous above, more densely beneath, especially on veins, palmately 5-lobed, the lobes elliptic, narrowed below, entire, rounded, apiculate, the central largest. Petioles 1·5–2 cm. long, finely puberulous. male flowers numerous in nodal fascicles on leafless stems or rarely contemporaneous with the leaves, all parts puberulous to villous; bracts small, filiform; pedicels 0·5–4·0 cm. long. Receptacle-tube 4–11 mm. long, lobes 5–14 × 1–2 mm., lanceolate, acute, ± acuminate. Petals 2·5–4 × 1·3–3 cm., pale yellow to orange-yellow, obovate, rounded, apiculate. Anther-thecae conspicuously hairy, hairs long, fine, flexuous. Female flowers, fruits and seeds unknown.
