Information
Annual herb, densely grey-pilose with long spreading hairs, branches prostrate to 30 cm long, often woody towards the base. Leaves subsessile, ovate, 5–15 x 2–10 mm, margin serrate; stipules linear, 0.5 mm long. Cyathia solitary, subsessile, clustered on congested leafy axillary branches, 1.5 mm in diam.; glands minute, reddish, with conspicuous white to pink lobed appendages to 0.5 x 1 mm. Styles minute, bifid almost to the base. Capsule exserted on a pedicel 2 mm long, acutely 3-lobed, 2 x 2 mm, densely pilose. Seeds ovoid, 4-angled, 1.3 x 0.9 mm, shallowly pitted, pinkish grey.
Range
N1 West Africa, Sudan, Eritrea and the Arabian Peninsula, especially on coastal plains of the Red Sea.
Altitude range
0–50 m.
