Information
Dwarf succulent perennial, much-branched to form loosely tangled masses 15–25 cm high and 25–50 cm in diam. Branches spreading, rebranching irregularly, c. 8 mm thick, obtusely 4-angled, glossy green or yellowish with a darker stripe along the angles; angles very shallowly toothed, with teeth 5–10 mm apart. Spine-shields separate, oblong, 1–2 x 3–6 mm, dark brown; spines slender, irregular in length, 2–18 mm long; prickles absent or rudimentary. Flowering eyes immediately above the spine-shields; cymes 1-forked, with peduncle and cyme-branches 1–2 mm long. Cyathia 2.5 mm in diam.; glands 1.25 mm broad, contiguous, brownish yellow. Styles 1 mm long. Capsule exserted on a recurved pedicel c. 4 mm long, deeply 3-lobed, 2 x 2.5 mm, buff with purple-marked sutures. Seeds ovoid, 1.25 x 1 mm, red-brown, minutely and densely tuberculate.

S1 NE Kenya and adjoining areas of Ethiopia.
