Information
rhizomes stout, woody, thickened at the nodes; leaves 2 to 3 in a fascicle, elongate-lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, acuminate, strongly veined, 3/4–1 1/2 ft. long, 1/4–1 1/4 in. broad, with 2 or 3 ovate-lanceolate sheaths at the base; scapes lateral, stout, 1–1 3/4 ft. high, with several loose spathaceous sheaths; racemes very short and dense, subcorymbose when young; bracts linear or lanceolate-linear, acuminate, 3/4–1 1/4 in. long; pedicels 1/2– 3/4 in. long; flowers large, yellow, with a deeper yellow disc to the lip and dark purple side lobes; sepals and petals ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-oblong, shortly acuminate, 1–1 1/4 in. long; lip broadly elliptic, about as long as the petals, 3-lobed, side lobes short, broadly rounded; front lobe suborbicular, obtuse, very broad; disc with about 11 to 13 slightly thickened veins, bearing numerous long slender filaments, and 2 crenulate keels at the base; spur oblong, obtuse, 1/4 in. long; column clavate-oblong, stout, 1/4 in. long. null
