Information
rhizomes very stout and woody, irregularly thickened at the nodes; leaves in fascicles of 3 or 4, small or undeveloped at flowering time, narrowly ensiform, acute, suberect or somewhat spreading, conduplicate, prominently veined, up to 6 in. long on the specimens seen; scapes lateral, erect, 1/2–1 1/4 ft. high, with several acute spathaceous sheaths below; racemes lax, usually many-flowered; bracts ovate-oblong or ovate-anceolate, acute or acuminate, 1/3– 1/2 in. long; pedicels 1/2– 3/4 in. long; flowers medium-sized, with brownish sepals and pink or lilac petals and lip; sepals somewhat spreading, narrowly oblong, subobtuse, nearly 1/2 in. long; petals elliptic-oblong, obtuse, rather longer than and twice as broad as the sepals; lip strongly 3-lobed, about as long as the petals, cuneate at the base; side lobes diverging, oblong, subobtuse, small; front lobe broadly obovate or obcordate; disc with 3–5 thickened keels, crenulate or papillose in front; spur narrowly clavate, somewhat curved, obtuse, 1/6– 1/4 in. long; column broadly-clavate, 1/4 in. long; anther somewhat 2-lobed. null
