an erect glabrous herb, 3/4–1 1/4 ft. high; leaves in a fascicle of 4, suberect, narrowly linear, very acute, 6–10 in. long; scapes subflexuous, with numerous adpressed membranous acute sheaths; spikes lax, many-flowered; bracts spreading, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, 1/4– 1/2 in. long; flowers small, spreading; sepals subequal, oblong-lanceolate, acute, nearly 1/2 in. long; petals oblong, acute, 1/3 in. long, by nearly half as broad; lip as long as the petals, oblong, 3-lobed; side lobes oblong, obtuse; front lobe subquadrate, obtuse, with 5 thickened densely papillose nerves, extending along the disc to near the base; spur incurved, cylindric, obtuse, one-third as long as the lip; column 1/6 in. long, dilated at the apex; anther rounded, subemarginate at the apex. null
