tubers subterranean, thickened; leaves at flowering time immature, grass-like, acuminate, 10–12 in. long, about 1/3 in. broad, with a few obtuse or acute sheaths at the base; scapes slender, 1 3/4–2 ft. long, somewhat flexuous above; raceme short, one-sided, few-flowered; bracts rhomboid, acuminate or aristate, convolute, shorter than the ovary; flowers deep yellow; dorsal sepal ovate-oblong, obtuse, about 1/3 in. long; lateral sepals broadly ovate, obtuse, produced into an obtuse mentum at the base; petals oblong, subacute, shorter than the sepals; lip 3-lobed; side lobes spreading, acute; front lobe spathulate, suborbicular in front, margin crenulate or dentate; disc with radiating keels from the middle almost to the margin; spur very short; column nearly half as long as the sepals. null
