Information
Slender terrestrial herb 12–20 cm tall.Perennating organs pseudobulbous, partly above ground, 2.5–5 × 0.6–1.5 cm, conical, erect, covered in brown sheaths, yellow when dry.Leaves 3–9 in a fan, 5–30 × 1–2 mm, linear, acuminate, not plicate, partly developed at flowering time.Inflorescence laxly 4–9-flowered; scape with 1–2 sheaths.Pedicel and ovary 6–14 mm long; bracts 5–9 mm long, lanceolate, acuminate, brownish.Flowers rather variable in colour, sepals purple or purple-brown; petals and lip bright yellow, the lip with purple side veins, or petals yellow-white with a brown or purple mid line, lip greenish-white with green side lobes and yellow papillae.Different colour forms may occur in one colony.Sepals semi-spreading, the tips curled back, 8.5–11.5 × 1.8–2.5 mm, linear-oblanceolate, acute.Petals 7–9 × 2–3.5 mm, oblong-oblanceolate, acute or apiculate, lying over the column.Lip 7–14 × 4–5 mm when flattened, 3-lobed in apical third; side lobes erect, rounded in front; mid-lobe 2.5–3 × 2.5–4 mm, elliptic, obtuse; callus of 3–5 basal ridges turning to long papillae on the mid-lobe; spur 4–6 mm long, cylindrical, usually slightly swollen at apex, parallel to ovary with the tip often slightly upcurved.Column 3–4 mm long; foot 1 mm long.Capsule pendent, 18–22 mm long.
