Information
Tree to 50 m with white, grey or grey-blue smooth bark throughout. Juvenile leaves ovate; adult lanceolate, 10–20 cm long, 1–2.7 cm wide; petiole terete or channelled, 1.3–2.4 cm long. Umbels 7–11-flowered; peduncle terete or angular, 0.7–2.5 cm long; pedicels [2]3–10 mm long. Buds conical; operculum conical, swollen at base, 8–13 mm long, 4–6 mm wide. Calyx-tube hemispherical, 2–3 mm long, 4–6 mm wide. Fruits subglobular or ovoid, 5–7[8.5] mm long, 4–8[8.5] mm wide, with broad steeply ascending disc and 4–5 strongly exserted valves; seeds black. Notes
Yields hard strong durable wood. Dale U543 (Uganda, Ankole District, Ibanda, Mar. 1948) is suggested by Ken Hill to be a hybrid between E. tereticornis and E. dealbata Schauer; Osmaston 2813 (Uganda, Toro District, Fort Portal) is the same.
