Erect annual herb; stems leafy, 25–60 cm tall, whitish-tomentose, glabrescent, often also with some glandular setae, branching from the upper leaf axils. Leaves cauline, sessile, (narrowly) lanceolate, 4–10 cm long, 0.8–2.5 cm wide, slightly narrowed or attenuate towards the slightly expanded subauriculate base, minutely serrulate, obtuse to acute, shortly acuminate-apiculate, white or grey tomentose beneath, thinly araneose and glabrescent and sometimes persistently glandular-setulose above. Capitula discoid, solitary at the branch apices on rather long tomentose stalks; involucre shortly campanulate-cylindrical, at first tomentose, glabrescent, 8–9 mm long; phyllaries 3-seriate, subequal, the outer lanceolate, laciniate-dentate, the inner ovate, acuminate, entire except at the apex, the longest ± 7 mm long; receptacle scales resembling the inner phyllaries. Florets with corolla white, glabrous, 5–7 mm long, lobes narrowly oblong, 2 mm long. Achenes 4.5–5 mm long, finely puberulous, ± smooth, with brown dots betweeen the ribs; pappus bristles tawny, 3.5–5 mm long.
