Notes
USES. Leaves widely used as vegetable; minor medicinal against syphilis (Koritschoner, Tanner), nose disease (Koritschoner), swollen legs (Tanner) and swollen throat (Tanner), as chest medicine (Jeffery) and as burn treatment (Gaetan) CONSERVATION Widespread, so least concern (LC) The name E. coccinea has been applied in a broad sense so as to include most of the large-headed African Emilia. Lisowski (1991) formalized the informal groups of Jeffrey (1986), and Jeffrey (1997) discussed correct application of names for these entities.
