Information
Annual or perhaps rarely short-lived perennial herb 2–90 cm tall, much branched or not branched at all; stems erect or decumbent, pale green, sometimes bluish, sparsely to densely white pubescent especially when young and in axils in lower part, glabrous or almost so in upper part. Leaves pale to bluish green, sometimes glaucous, subsucculent, sessile, spatulate or rotundate-spatulate, the uppermost sometimes oblanceolate, 0.8–10.5 cm long, 0.2–5.6 cm wide, base rounded or cuneate into a winged petioloid base, margins sinuate-dentate especially or at least 3–5-toothed on the upper margins, apex subtruncate or rounded, sparsely to densely pubescent, sometimes glabrescent. Capitula terminal, solitary, long-stalked, radiate; capitulum stalk glabrous; involucre cylindrical, 3.5–8 mm long, 4.5–8 mm in diameter; phyllaries 6–13, bright green, sometimes tinged reddish, 3–7.5 mm long, glabrous. Florets yellow or orange, the disc florets often slightly darker in colour. Ray florets 8–26, most often 13 or 18, tube 2.7–5.5 mm long, hairy at the apex, ray 3.5–7 x 1.5–3 mm, 4-veined; disc florets bright yellow to orange, corolla 3.5–6.5 mm long, tube glabrous, lobes 0.5–0.7 mm long. Achenes 1.8–3 mm long, shortly hairy; pappus white, 3.5–7 mm long. Fig. 121 (page 577).
