Information
Leaves oblanceolate to spathulate, 5–26 x 1–7.5 cm, obtuse to subacute at the apex, attenuate at the base, with entire to sinuate or crenate margins. Spikes several, 5–32 cm high including peduncle, often branched at the base; bracts ovate-acuminate, 4–5 mm long, ciliate; bracteoles lanceolate. Calyx c. 4 mm long; lobes lanceolate. Corolla 6–8 mm long, white or pale blue. Capsule c. 4 mm long.
Range
S1, 3 widespread in tropical Africa and southern Asia.
Altitude range
30–200 m.

Notes
The name E. marginata Vahl was used for this plant in Cuf. Enum.: 926 (1964).
