Information
Erect (rarely scrambling) much branched shrub or subshrub to 1 m tall; stems brittle, subglabrous to puberulous or finely sericeous or glandular-puberulous with non-glandular hairs intermixed. Leaves elliptic to obovate, largest 1–5.5≈0.5–2.3 cm, apex subacute to retuse, with a small triangular tooth, glabrous to puberulous or sericeous, densest along veins. Flowers in condensed 3–7(–12)-flowered axillary cymes or solitary towards tip of branches, often condensed towards tip of stems; peduncle and branches 0–2 mm long, subglabrous to finely sericeous, often also with stalked capitate glands; outer bracts elliptic to obovate, up to 1 cm long, or as inner bracts and bracteoles: linear to lanceolate, up to 5 mm long, glabrous to sericeous or with sparse to dense stalked capitate glands. Calyx subglabrous to sparsely sericeous or sericeous-puberulent or uniformly glandular-puberulous, 8–14(–16 in fruit) mm long; teeth 4–8(–9 in fruit) mm long, shorter or longer than tube. Corolla slightly 2-lipped, mauve to purple, bluish purple or blue to dark blue, with darker patches and lines at base of lower lip and in throat, sericeous-puberulent and often with scattered capitate glands, 12–17 mm long of which the linear tube 5–8 mm, the throat 2–3 mm and the limb 5–7 mm, throat indistinctly delimited, much shorter than limb; lobes narrowly oblong or slightly obovate, erect or deflexed in lower lip. Free part of filaments 2–4 mm long, hairy near base, glabrous or with a few scattered hairs upwards; anthers 1–1.5 mm long, spurs less than 1/4 mm long. Capsule 10–13 mm long. Seed ± 2.5 mm long.
