Information
Perennial or shrubby perennial herb with erect branched stems from a creeping rootstock; stems to 50 cm tall, when young retrorsely sericeous or puberulous with hairs 0.5–1 mm long, sometimes only on two sides, eventually with bark peeling in papery strips. Leaves ovate to elliptic, largest 3.8–8≈1.5–3.5 cm, more than twice as long as wide, apex acute to rounded, base attenuate to truncate, decurrent to an indistinctly delimited ciliate petiole to 5 mm long, uniformly puberulous or sparsely so above, below densest along veins with lamina sometimes glabrous; margin crenate to dentate, tertiary veins not or slightly raised, stipule sheath 0.5–1 mm long. Flowers in 1- to many-flowered well separated condensed axillary cymes or these sometimes congested towards tip of branches; peduncles and pedicels 1–2 mm long, sericeous or densely so; outer bracts foliaceous, to 1.5 cm long; inner bracts and bracteoles linear to oblong, to 1.5 cm long, with scattered to dense broad glossy hairs (densest along margins) and often with a sparsely puberulous “undercoat”. Calyx (12–)14–16(–21 in fruit) mm long, tube 5–7 mm long, puberulous or densely so, teeth gradually with sparser indumentum upwards, tube and basal part of teeth also with scattered to dense broad glossy hairs to 1 mm long; teeth narrowly triangular, acuminate to cuspidate, dorsal 6–9 mm long (longer than tube), ventral 5–7 mm long of which the free part 2–3 mm. Corolla white with pale pink patches in throat, (15–)18–23 mm long, puberulent; tube 10–14 mm long of which the throat 4–5 mm; lips 5–9 mm long; lobes oblong, 2–3.5 mm wide, rounded to retuse; palate without long stiff hairs. Filaments 3–5 mm long, with scattered hairs throughout; anthers 1.5–2 mm long, thecae rounded, connective densely glandular or with mixtute of glands and hairs. Dorsal stigma lobe half the length of ventral. Immature capsule ± 12 mm long, obovoid. Seed not seen.
