Information
Stems velvety. Flowers in distinctly branched inflorescences, 30–50 cm long, the rhachis ± velvety; pedicels 3–9 mm long becoming 1.5 cm long in fruit, densely pubescent. Winged petiole 8–26 × 7–23 mm, oblong or oblong-elliptic, broadly rounded to cordate at the apex, rounded at the base. Leaflet 3–5.5 × 1.4–2 cm, elliptic, finely pubescent above, pubescent to velvety beneath. Standard densely puberulous outside. Stipe attaining 2.8–5 cm in length.

Notes
The sheet cited does not agree too well with the type, differing in its smaller standard, longer fruit stipe, larger articles and having a leafy branch arising from the middle of the inflorescence. I originally kept it as a separate species, but it is too close to var. whytei to be anything but another variant of D. pteropus.
