annual; stem erect, as well as the branches angular, smooth, glabrous; leaves glabrous, the lower oblong-linear, obtuse, tapering in a short petiole, with 1–2 teeth on each side; the middle and upper linear, sessile, acute, serrate, serratures 3–5, subulate, on each side; pedicels axillary, glabrous, somewhat longer than the leaf; calyx-tube elongate-obconical, glabrous, longer than the erect, linear, scabrously-margined lobes. 4 inches high. Root fibrous. Leaves erect, the middle longer, 4–8 lines long, scarcely 1/2 line wide. Pedicels erect, naked, in fruit 1/2 longer than the leaf. Corolla unknown. Capsule erect, longish, obconical, glabrous, 2 lines long.
