plant 3/4–1 1/4 ft. high; stem stout; leaves cauline, numerous, suberect, lanceolate to ovate-anceolate, acute or acuminate, 2–5 in. long, reduced upwards into the bracts; scapes 3/4–1 1/4 ft. high; spikes 2–6 in. long, dense or rarely lax, many-flowered; bracts lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, 3/4–1 in. long; pedicels 1/2– 3/4 in. long; flowers medium-sized, pink or rose, sometimes spotted and lined with purple; dorsal sepal galeate, broadly oblong, obtuse, with a somewhat involute margin, 4–6 lin. long; spur cylindrical from a narrowly conical base, rather slender, subobtuse, somewhat curved, rather longer than the limb; lateral sepals oblong, obtuse, with a broad obtuse dorsal apiculus, 4–6 lin. long; petals obliquely ovate-oblong, obtuse, 3 1/2–4 lin. long; lip linear, slightly thickened above, 5–6 lin. long; column short; anther reflexed; rostellum short, 3-dentate; stigma pulvinate. null

Notes
This has smaller flowers and relatively much longer leaves than D. nervosa, Lindl., with which it has been confused by Schlechter. I cannot, however, separate D. stenoglossa, Bolus, of which Mrs. L. Bolus has kindly sent a flower from the type specimen.
