plant 1/3–1 ft. high; stem stout; leaves cauline, suberect, usually numerous, linear or lanceolate-linear, acute or acuminate, involute, sheathing at the base, 2–6 in. long; scapes 1/3–1 ft. high; spikes 2–5 in. long, densely many-flowered; bracts ovate or ovate-lanceolate, long-acuminate, 1/2– 3/4 in. long; pedicels 3–4 lin. long; flowers small, yellow, with the dorsal sepal and tips of the lateral sepals red; dorsal sepal oblong, obtuse or apiculate, cucullate, inflexed at the apex, 2–2 1/4 lin. long; spur somewhat slender, obtuse, about as long as the limb; lateral sepals oblong or ovate-oblong, obtuse, spreading, 1 1/2–1 3/4 lin. long; petals obliquely ovate, subobtuse, concave at the base, about 1 1/4 lin. long; lip linear-oblong, obtuse, somewhat fleshy, 1 1/4–1 1/2 lin. long; column stout; anther reflexed; connective narrow, nearly as long as the cells; rostellum erect, with short obtuse arms; stigma pulvinate; capsule elliptic-oblong, 5–6 lin. long. null
