Notes
This subspecies is variable in the length of the apiculi on the lateral sepals. The apiculi are quite short in plants occurring in the south of the range of the subpecies, and reach their greatest length in plants from the north.Subsp. aconitoides is restricted to Africa south of the Limpopo, while subsp. goetzeana occurs in Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia.Subsp. concinna differs from the other 2 subspecies in having apiculi more than 1 mm in length.Subsp. aconitoides may be distinguished from subsp. goetzeana by its floral bracts which are at least as tall as the flowers.
