plant about 6 in. high; leaves about 9, suberect or somewhat curved, narrowly linear, acute, 3–4 in. long, 1–1 1/2 lin. broad, narrowed at the base; scape about 6 in. high, with 2 lanceolate acuminate sheaths, 1–2-flowered; bracts elliptic-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, cucullate, 6–8 lin. long; pedicels about 7 lin. long; flowers large, dark purple; dorsal sepal galeate, broadly ovate, acute or shortly acuminate, 6–7 lin. long, with incurved margin; spur nearly globose, 1 lin. long; lateral sepals ovate-oblong, acute, concave, 5–6 lin. long; petals 2–2 1/2 lin. long, somewhat curved, dilated at the base, constricted in the middle, dilated at the apex into a 2-lobed limb; lip narrowly unguiculate; claw 2 1/2–4 lin. long; limb dilated, broadly cordate-ovate, crenulate, 3–5-lobed in front, 3–6 lin. long and about as broad, front lobe acute or acuminate; column broad, 1 1/2–2 lin. long; anther reflexed; connective as long as the cells; rostellum erect, 3-dentate, with acute teeth; stigma ovate. null
