Information
basal leaves numerous, linear, rigid, subglabrous, 6–15 in. long, 1/8– 1/6 in. broad, acuminate; ribs immersed; peduncle 1–1 1/2 ft. long, densely hairy upwards, with a few small erect linear leaves; flowers very numerous, arranged in a very dense panicle 2–3 in. diam.; main branches umbellate; ovary globose, clothed like the branches with short, dense, soft, spreading, whitish hairs; perianth-segments oblong, much imbricated, purplish, 1/4– 1/3 in. long; stamens shorter than the perianth-segments; capsule globose, very hairy, the size of a small pea, crowned by the accrescent scariose segments; seed orbicular, hairy, discoid. null
