Notes
Dictar, dhiigtaar, godxantool, qurac (Som.). This variable species was subdivided into numerous subspecies and varieties by Brenan & Brummitt in Bol. Soc. Brot., ser. 2, 39: 77–115 (1965). One of these, subsp. argillicola with only 4–7 pairs of pinnae and not strongly coiled pods, was described with the type from Somalia. Today a much wider variation is known in Somalia and the application of the infraspecific names available is very difficult. The species is therefore here not formally subdivided. One of the most striking variants is the one preliminary described as D. sp. A by Brenan in Fl. Trop. E. Afr. (1959). This has only 2–3 pairs of pinnae with 6–11 pairs of leaflets and was previously only known from the Wajir area in E Kenya. This variant has now also been collected in S Somalia on sand near the Kenya border (Gillett & al. 25257).
