Information
Tree 4–20 m tall with trunk 10–60 cm diameter; branches ± thick, puberulous or glabrous. Leaves ovate-elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 10–35 cm long, 3.5–14 cm wide, ± acuminate at the apex, obtuse to asymmetrically rounded or subcordate at the base, coarsely and irregularly toothed, subcoriaceous, glabrous above and mostly glabrous beneath or with scattered stellate hairs, with domatia in some nerve axils beneath with ± long simple hairs (but often lacking); stipules 2–3-fid, the lobes ovate-lanceolate, 5–12 mm long, sharply pointed, finely adpressed puberulous; petiole 0.2–1.8 cm long. Cymes axillary, umbel-like, 5–7-flowered, tomentose; peduncle 1–2 cm long; involucral bracts 5–6, ovate-lanceolate, 4–5 mm long, greyish tomentose, not enveloping the young buds, ± deciduous. Flowers white; pedicels thick, 3–7 mmlong, tomentellous; buds ovoid or subglobose, 5–9 mm long, 4–8 mm wide; sepals oblong-lanceolate, 1–1.4 cm long, 4–5 mm wide, fimbriate at apex, tomentose; petals yellowish, oblong-elliptic, 4 mm long, 2 mm wide, tomentose. Staminal tube pubescent; ovary 6–10-locular; stigma finely fimbriate. Fruit greenish yellow, subglobose, 10–25 cm long, 8–20 cm wide, flattened at ends, longitudinally slightly ribbed. Seeds narrowly obovate in outline, compressed, 18 mm long, 8 mm wide, 3.5 mm thick. Fig. 10.
