Desmodium distortum Aubl. Macbr. [family LEGUMINOSAE]
Information
It is a shrubby herb 2-3 m tall with extensively branched inflorescences of pink to blue flowers and fruits of 1-6 articles; the articles 1.5-2.5 x 1.5-2 mm but occassionally, when reduced to 1, much larger, 5x4 mm with flase stipe up to 3.5 mm long partly made up of undeveloped articles.
Range
a species from Mexico and northern South America, has been grown at Mt. Makulu Research Station in Zambia (13.v.1962, van Rensburg 3108).
