Information
leaves oblong, glabrous, firm in texture, 4–5 in. long, 1 1/2–1 3/4 in. broad, conspicuously ribbed vertically, crenulate on the margin; capitulum subsessile; outer bracts obovate, membranous, an inch long; flowers bright scarlet, the outer ones 3 in. long, with the oblong-spathulate segments of the lower lip 1 1/4–1 1/2 in. long, the other three linear and very small; stamens only 1/12– 1/8 in. long; central flowers with 6 ascending, unequal, linear segments. null
