Low shrub 0.25–2 m tall, much-branched with alternate leaves and branches, young branches densely white-tomentose, older branches becoming thinly so, terete and striate. Leaves rather small, obovate to spathulate, 3–12 x 3–7 mm, ± densely white-tomentose on both surfaces or more thinly so above, when larger distinctly petiolate, apex acute to obtuse or weakly retuse, base cuneate. Inflorescences to c. 7 cm long, axis densely white-tomentose. Partial inflorescences small, mostly of 3 fertile flowers. Tepals narrowly oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 5–7 mm, densely furnished with long, ± appressed hairs, 3-nerved, inner slightly shorter. Filaments expanded towards the base. Style c. 2–2.5 mm. Capsule ovoid, c. 2.5 mm. Sterile flowers with the bristles long-pilose at the base or to above halfway, 6–8 mm, brownish to purplish-brown.
